All of Rocky Mountain National Park lies above 7,500 feet. During the summer, the elk move to these higher elevations above the tree line to forage. This pair of elk (wapiti) were grazing in the park's highest area near Fall River Pass at 12,000 feet. For the winter, they will migrate to the lower meadows in the park's valley.
