Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island is home to Kilauea, one of the few active volcanoes in the USA. The easiest way for us to visit the park was by helicopter. At the time of our visit Kilauea was spilling its hot, molten lava into the ocean. I understand that as of September 9, 2013 the lava is no longer reaching the ocean, another sign of the rapidly changing course of nature.
