You'll find Arches National Park in east central Utah near the city of Moab. This area was part of a salt filled ocean three hundred millions years ago. Salt and other minerals were deposited to form sandstone. Countless years of wind, rain and ice erosion have since shaped more than 2000 natural arches. Delicate Arch is the most famous, standing an impressive 50 feet high. Hikers can reach Delicate Arch by following a moderate 1-1/2 mile trail.
